【Incoming】Fact Sheet 2026-2027(update20251230)

Dear Students Who Will Soon Join the NCKU College of Social Sciences,


Warm greetings from the College of Social Sciences, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. We hope you are doing well.
At the top of this message, you will find an attachment containing the requirements for exchange students for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This will help you understand the overall timeline in advance.

Below is the information for students applying for the 2026 Fall Semester and 2027 Spring Semester exchange programs. 

Students who wish to apply for a full academic year (Sep. 2026 – Aug. 2027) are also very welcome.

2026 Fall Semester (2026/09/01–2027/01/31)

Nomination Period: From now until April 15, 2026.(Application documents must be submitted by April 30, 2026.)
Nomination Method:
Please download the nomination form. The form must be sent by your home department or international office via email, confirming that your home university approves your exchange nomination.
After we receive the nomination, we will notify the nominated students directly and inform them to prepare the required application documents by April 30, 2026.

(1) College-Level Preliminary Review
Once all nominated students have submitted their documents, the College will conduct an eligibility review.
The results will be announced in the second week of May.
※ Please note: The preliminary review is not the final admission result. You must still pass the university-level review.

(2) University-Level Review
After passing the College’s preliminary review, your application will proceed to the university-level review.
Admission notices are expected to be issued in early June.
※ This admission notice is the official confirmation of acceptance. Once you receive it, you may begin arranging your flight tickets, visa, and other preparations.

(3) Accommodation, Course Registration, Health Check, and Arrival Procedures
From June to July, dedicated staff members will assist you with all necessary procedures. Please rest assured that you will receive full support.
•    Exchange students must take at least one course offered by the department they are admitted to.
•    Other courses may be selected freely.
•    English-taught courses are available every semester. Please refer to the Fact Sheet for details.

(4) Estimated Semester Start Date & Suggested Flight Timing
The Fall Semester usually begins in the first or second week of September. Dormitory check-in typically begins one week before the semester starts.
We recommend purchasing flight tickets that allow you to arrive one week before the first day of classes.
 

2027 Spring Semester (2027/02/01–2027/06/30)

Nomination Period:From now until October 15, 2026.(Application documents must be submitted by October 30, 2026.)

Please download the nomination form. The form must be sent by your home department or international office via email, confirming that your home university approves your exchange nomination.
After we receive the nomination, we will notify the nominated students directly and inform them to prepare their application documents by October 30, 2026.

Required Documents for Application

1.Headshot Photo
Please provide a recent photo with a plain white background.

2.Official Enrollment Certificate
Issued by your home university.

3.Most Recent Official Transcript (in English)

4.Autobiography or CV
You may submit a short personal statement, a resume, or a combination of both. It is preferable to focus on your academic background and learning experience.

5.Financial Statement Issued by a Bank or Financial Institution
This document should show that the student has at least NT$100,000 available for a full academic year, or NT$50,000 for one academic semester, to ensure they can financially support their exchange period.

6.Passport Information Page and National ID Certificate (if applicable)

7.Letter of Recommendation
The letter should include the referee’s full name and title, clearly printed.

8.Official Proof of English Language Proficiency
Applicants who are citizens of countries where English is the native language are exempt from this requirement.
 

Minimum English Requirement

TOEFL iBT: 65

IELTS (Academic): 5.5

TOEIC: 660

Chinese proficiency is optional, but A2 or above on CEFR is recommended (B1 preferred).
 

 After Admission

We will assign dedicated staff to support admitted students with:(Please be sure to check your emails.)

1.Accommodation registration
Applications will be notified along with the admission letter, so please make sure you apply. The price difference between on-campus and off-campus accommodation is about 4-5 times (per semester).

2.Health check procedures
The main requirements will be proof of a chest X-ray, and proof of measles and rubella vaccinations (both must be within the last three months).
However, the ARC form is slightly different from the form for short-term study abroad (less than six months), so please take note.

3.Course Selection

NCKU's course selection process is quite complex, typically divided into three stages.
Stage 1: Limited to courses within the same year and department, selecting general education courses by lottery.
Stage 2: Course selection is allowed across colleges、departments and year levels, selecting general education courses by lottery.
Stage 3: Adding or dropping courses; the final phase involves adjusting courses, so it's crucial to manage your time effectively.

※The system will provide required courses, but you can choose to drop them and select courses that suit your needs.

4.Campus check-in after arrival
Upon arrival at the school, we will complete the registration process, receive our student IDs, pay for our accident insurance, and register with our department/institute.
